The 2011 Hyundai Elantra is Out and Ready to Conquor

The 2011 Elantra, the last of the Hyundai lineup to come out, is ready to conquor Oklahoma. Debuting at the LA Auto Show last month, this all-new vehicle sure has turned some heads.

"2011 Elantra encompasses Hyundai's latest ambitions including 'Fluidic Sculpture' design, advanced safety and fuel efficiency," says Hyundai.

The Elantra is unlike other competitors in the field with its more modern approach with look, feel, and comfort. While in the midst of creating this vehicle, the designers sought to answer the following four questions:

1. How can we achieve a more modern, sleek, sophisticated sytle for a compact?
2. How can we get advanced safety features of luxury cars?
3. Why buy a mid-size sedan when you can get exceptional room in a compact car?
4. How can we get a compact car to get great fuel economy of a subcompact?

After answering these questions, Hyundai engineers and designers came up with a new standard for the compact car market with the all-new 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

The 2011 Hyundai Features:

• All-new fifth generation Elantra compact sedan
• "Fluidic Sculpture" design
• Launches with new 1.8-liter "Nu" engine and in-house six-speed automatic transmission
• 40 mpg highway on all models with A/T or M/T
• Best-in-class standard fuel economy
• Improved fuel efficiency by up to 18 percent over its predecessor
• More fuel efficient than Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla
• Production began at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in November with shipments to dealers before year-end

• Standard VSM, ESC, TCS, ABS with Brake Assist and EBD
• Touch-screen navigation with rearview camera and iPod®/USB inputs

Hyundai's 'Fluidic Sculpture' design

The engineers at Hyundai wanted to create the illusion of constant motion like the way the Sonata looks so they came up with a 'Fluidic Sculpture' for the Elantra. With this look the Elantra features a more athletic look with a strong stance, muscular face with a long flowing body copy cating the Sonata.

Powertrain of 40 Miles Per Gallon

After the design elements were in place the next thing on the agenda was to raise the MPG through the powertrain and Hyundai engineers succeeded with a 40 MPG Powertrain, an 18 percent improvement in fuel economy from the previous Elantra models.

Under the hood of the Elantra is the featured 1.8-liter Nu four-cylinder engine with 148 hp and 131 lb-ft of torque giving the Elalntra a fuel economy of 29 mpg city and 40 mpg highway with the six-speed automatic transmission or manual transmission.

The Elantra features the Nu engine with a cast iron cylinder liner, cylinder head, aluminum block and crank making the Elantra 30 percent lighter than the past iron block making this vehicle 74 pounds lighter.

Unlike most compacts, the 2011 Elantra focuses on the family aspects putting safety, versility and practicality in front of other characteristics making it the perfect vehicle for a family. Offering one of the most comfortable and spacious cabins in the small car class, the Elantra is well worth a look. Because it is so roomy, it works well as a starter car, affordable and comfortable, with a good-sized trunk for storage.
